Summer Red

Summer Red

After a couple of weeks of glorious autumn weather, it is raining today, so I am posting this image from summer days. I don't know what it is, but I found it on one of our camera club outings at the Para Wirra Conservation Park.

Autumn Foliage...

The Old Mill, Birdwood

Autumn  Leaves

Main Street, Birdwood

It was such a glorious autumn day yesterday, that Richard and I decided to take a drive through the Adelaide Hills. It could not have been more perfect, following the winding roads all lined with rusty coloured trees. We stopped a few times along the way to walk along the quiet streets of the little towns we encountered. We bought a fresh loaf of garlic and herb bread at Birdwood's bakery to munch on for lunch. Also bought a couple of little treasures from the local gallery, then slowly made our way back home...

Texture Tuesday #4...

Giraffe at the Singapore Zoo

Joining Kim Klassen Texture Tuesdays with something different. Photo was taken while on holiday in Malaysia, two weeks ago. Duplicated background layer, added "Serendipity" texture layer softlight blend 100%, giraffe had textured removed with selection mask, another "Serendipity" texture layer was added, this time the blend mode was 100% multiply. A rectangular selection was made with the centre then deleted to bring giraffe through and leave a nice darker frame around the whole image.

Out on the Edge...

I took this shot while in Singapore. We paid the fee to go up to the 56th floor to check out this amazing pool, right on the edge of the building. It is incredible to think that we are so high up and the buildings in the background are higher up still.

Easter Friday...

Spider Orchids

I took this shot of these amazingly sweet smelling flowers in the courtyard of one of the temples we visited while in Malaysia. Two of Kim Klassen's textured were added, Silence and Sweet treat.
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter Weekend. Stay safe.

Kangaroo Island Revisited...

Dudley Peninsula, Top of Lighthouse

Pennington Bay

Vivonne Bay

Only just back from our holiday and I am already wanting to go again. It seems that it takes no time for the old routine to set back in...How unfortunate... But that's life and I guess and most of us are in the same boat. In the meantime, I have been able to enjoy the quiet moments I was looking for as well as spend time to update our travel blog. Tomorrow is Easter Friday, and the kids are coming around for lunch so I better get on with some of my pre-cooking.

Blue Iris...

The days are getting shorter and the nights are certainly cooler, as we are heading towards winter. As I look through some of the blogs from our friends in the northern hemisphere, I can't stop admiring the beautiful blooms that are popping out everywhere. So brought this shot out from my archives and applied "empty page" texture from Kim Klassen, hope you enjoy the result.

Texture Tuesday #3...

Callistemon

I am really enjoying the challenge of Texture Tuesdays. Not only finding the right image but also choosing the right texture to go with it. This week's challenge is to use two of Kim Klassen textures, Silence and SweetTreat.

This is how I did it.
1.   Original image layer
2.   Silence Texture layer 100% softlight blending mode
3.   SweetTreat texture layer 100% softlight blending mode
4.   Level adjustment layer to bring back some contrast

I hope you enjoy the result. If you want to come and join us, click on the button below, but be warned it can become quite addictive.

Community Concert...

A few month back the Parafield Community Centre put on a concert to raise some money for the people of Queensland who suffered so much loss due to major flooding in the region. This was my first effort at taking shots at such an event. The day was quite glorious and these guys really rocked the place.

Lazy Sunday...

Spider Orchids

While on holiday in Malaysia, this little flowers took my attention; they seem to be growing everywhere.
They look so fragile and their perfume is quite amazing.

Having quite a lazy Sunday, slowly getting over my cold and starting to feel better. Took a couple of walks with our dog, as the weather was just fantastic, once down the shop to get the paper and later this afternoon around our usual path down the park. I must take my camera down next time to try and get some shots of those beautifully colored lorikeets which keep hanging around the trees.

Dracula...

Slowly going through the photos I took during our holiday. Some are ok, some not so good but there are a few that I will be able to use for club competitions. Though I would post a couple of Dracula today, having a snooze on our bed as usual. He is now 12yrs old and doesn't tend to play like he used to; but he and Buster will still have their crazy moments.

I haven't had a cold in 5yrs, but brought one back from our holiday and I don't really feel like doing anything.

The Big Bay...

Caught this big boy going through his paces at the Gawler Horse Show back in August 2010. I just love the look of him with the sun shining on his red coat. I purposely kept the man out of focus and frame to keep the viewer's eye on the horse.

I had to go food shopping today; that is one of the things I certainly didn't miss when I was on holiday.

We are back...

Garden Delight #2

Another image created, this time, using 2 of Isabell Lafrance textures, soft light layers blended together with the bottom petals having the texture erased from it.

We are back from our trip to Malaysia. It was quite an enjoyable holiday and I have a lot of photos to go through. I am hoping to get to them soon and post some over the next few weeks. But for now, I am going to welcome the quiet moments which I am due for. Going on holiday is very nice but it can get hectic and it is certainly good to be home.

Texture Tuesday...

Garden Delight

Used Warm Sun texture from the Kim Klassen collection to create this image. A layer was used to erase the texture from the front flower.

Form Singapore with love.....

Changi Airport, what a great place to be. Just waiting for our flight to Penang. What a fantastic trip we are having. Plenty of photos to look through and post when we get back.
