Texture Tuesday #4...

Giraffe at the Singapore Zoo

Joining Kim Klassen Texture Tuesdays with something different. Photo was taken while on holiday in Malaysia, two weeks ago. Duplicated background layer, added "Serendipity" texture layer softlight blend 100%, giraffe had textured removed with selection mask, another "Serendipity" texture layer was added, this time the blend mode was 100% multiply. A rectangular selection was made with the centre then deleted to bring giraffe through and leave a nice darker frame around the whole image.

I've always had an affinity for the giraffes. They look so sweet and docile. You did a wonderful job with the textures. Really adds a beautiful softness to the portrait. xoxo

Very nice. I like that technique of using the rectangular selection, bumping up the levels to really dark and then hitting the delete to leave the dark corner and edge. Made this giraffe look really cool.

Great photo. Thanks for explaining how you processed it all. I am new to textures and a good explanation like yours really helps to see what and how it can be achieved. Thank you.
